IDEA First Drops: The Water Project in Nigeria
AIM
Sometimes change begins with something simple…a glass of clean water.
IDEA First Drops started on 1 September 2024 at African Church Primary School in Lagos, Nigeria. What began as a practical intervention to secure safe drinking water is now evolving into a multi-phase initiative that includes nutritional support and direct human connection between students and supporters.
Every step is structured through the IDEA transparency model and openly documented, demonstrating that structured, accountable civic action can operate across borders while maintaining local leadership and full documentation.
IDEA First Drops has a twofold purpose:
To secure clean drinking water and basic nutritional support for the students.
To build a living bridge of cooperation between Greece and Nigeria based on trust, participation, transparency, and direct human connection.

Phase 1 – Access to Clean Water (IMPLEMENTED)
The Need
Students at African Church Primary School did not have stable access to safe drinking water inside the school. Access was inconsistent, affecting daily comfort, concentration, and well-being.
The need was verified locally and documented before action began.
The Intervention
Phase 1 focused on restoring and stabilizing the school’s drinking water system through:
- Purchase of a water circulation pump
- Plumbing installation and system integration
Each step was documented and shared openly, including direct communication with the local team.
Phase 1 Budget (Completed)
- Water circulation pump: 175,000 NGN (approximately €100)
- Plumbing installation: 22,000 NGN (approximately €12)
- Bank transfer expenses: €35
Total budget used for Phase 1: €154
An additional €7 was sent to ensure smooth completion.
All receipts, payment confirmations, photos, and videos are publicly available in the links section of this page.
Impact of Phase 1
The water system is now operational.
Students have direct access to clean drinking water inside their school.
A daily instability has been removed.
A basic need is secured.
Imagine life at your school without running water in the bathrooms! That problem was solved with 154€ because the need and implementation of the project was done by a local.
Phase 1 established the foundation.
Phase 2 – Nutritional Support (In Progress)
Following the successful completion of Phase 1, the project now expands into targeted food support.
The objective is to distribute essential food supplies to students who are identified by the school as being in genuine need.
The goal:
- Strengthen students’ daily health
- Improve well-being and stability
- Support consistent school attendance
Budget Phase 2:
Currently in progress.
A detailed financial breakdown will be published with full transparency before and during implementation.
Phase 2 follows the same model:
Identification → Budget → Transparent Funding → Local Distribution → Public Documentation
Phase 3 – Personal Connection & Ongoing Understanding
Transparency is not only financial. It is relational and human.
Phase 3 introduces organized video calls between donors, students, and school representatives.
This allows contributors to:
- See real conditions directly
- Speak with the school community
- Understand impact beyond numbers
- Listen to students’ perspectives
Through this dialogue, we aim to gradually understand what is truly needed and what can realistically and responsibly be supported from here.
Instead of assuming needs, we build understanding step by step.
This phase transforms assistance into cooperation.
Long-Term Cooperation
IDEA First Drops lays the foundation for sustained collaboration between Greece and Nigeria.
It demonstrates that the I.D.E.A. model can operate across borders while maintaining:
- Local autonomy
- Open documentation
- Financial accountability
- Direct human connection
Future phases may include additional educational, material, or community-based support — always structured, always transparent.
